2019: The Year of the Pig - aquarelle interpretations

The Chinese New Year of 2019 started last Tuesday 5 February and in the Chinese horoscope it is the year of the Pig... The Aquarellistas decided to be inspired by this - and created artworks around 'The year of the pig'

Marie-Françoise proved her talent with this lovely picture of a sweet piglet!

According to Chinese predictions, 2019 is going to be a year of friendship and love for all the zodiac signs; an auspicious year because the Pig attracts success in all the spheres of life.

Michele C painted this piggy, a cheeky little boy by the look of it

Sounds good huh! And how about this: People with the Chinese zodiac Pig sign (born in 1935,1947,1959,1971,1983,1995,2007 or this year) are considerate, responsible, independent and optimistic. They always show generousness and mercy and have harmonious interpersonal relationships.
Michele F chose a more 'zentangle' interpretation - with the word 'pig' in chinese script.

And surely the year of the pig has brought us very interesting paintings and drawings sofar.

Isabel D, a pig-zodiac-sign herself 😝🐷 lifted her pig to a more 'design' level

And so did Ilse, a beautiful subtle design with a bit of added humour

Sylvie M. used her previously created abstract as background for a funny and lovely winged pig

Glen painted 2 piggies, this sweet friendly boy is the one she worked on for 2 hours. After that she also painted one in a couple of minutes - a very funny girl! And proof that watercolours work well as a spontaneous medium! Which one do you prefer?

Liz painted this hilarious  big guy, (that I think looks much like James Cordon of the late late show. Funny, friendly -and stout
This lovely piglet was painted by Hélène, I love its innocence - and I'm not sure if she meant it to be, but it looks like he's standing in water...

And this hilarious piggy with big ears is actually swimming in the water.
Can't wait to see this one, painted by Sylvie D., finished!!

In the new year of the pig there were also other subjects of course! You can admire some of the paintings below:

Anna Karin finished her poppies. They were great last week - and everything she did to finish made them even better! The light is absolutely amazing!

Catherine also started a painting with poppies. The light will be a strong reflection of the sun in the water. Very exciting picture!

Two beautiful women in a fantasy background, slightly jugendstil inspired, very well done by Sylvie M

Amazing jellyfish by remote Aquarellista Sandra - looking forward to seeing it when she has added the two missing ones in soft and delicate colours!

Michele C. finished her mother of pearl letter opener. Even more stunning now!

Maud finished the monumental building in Grasse and started a painting of the port of Algiers

And that was it for Tuesday 5 and Thursday 7 February. I think I am justly proud of my Aquarellistas
