A diversity of Subjects for Aquarelle Waterclours

Hélène opens today's blog with her absolutely fabulous green banana leaves! They are so sunny...

'Green Man' by Celina. It is a sculpture and she made him look alive (because of the tongue-sticking out) and like hard green stone at the same time, how clever!

Jutta worked on her green hearts and made them magnificent!

Our Aquarellista Expo is 6 weeks away - and for the 'Bottle & Brush contest' we need paintings of that subject which look like photographs.  Judith worked on it with the one-hair brush and did an amazing job!

Anna-Karin's version is not yet finished but looks so good already!! The contest will be for the visitors, Aquarellistas can't participate - and it will be to guess which one is the photo...

Citadel Fort Vauban in Antibes by night. Liz is on a roll with her excellent series of  'by night' paintings!

O my, Carol's tomatoes now have fresh basil leaves and the still life has another, can I say 'yummy' dimension... Almost finished!!

On Thursday, Maud worked on a commission for a 'Greek Street' and she definitely nailed it!!

Our subject du jour was 'Coral' - because it was 'abstract' subject day. Corals are having a very abstract quality allright, and are also quite complicated, and that's why none of them are finished yet. Below the first splashes of watercolour - you can look forward to more definition, contrast and smooth backgrounds in the next post!

Hélène's Colourful Coral will have more volume and blend in with the background

Michele C.s coral is great looking already (how beautiful is that colour orange!) but will get much more depth

Ilse's coral looks so interesting already, like alien feathers - it will probably change very much, but it has depth and is undeniably interesting.

Isabel started her coral from an amazingly complicated example. She did a great job already - but was understandably fed up with all those tiny dots and lines. Let's hope she is able to finish it next week because it is worth it...

On Thursday, Marie-Claire took the same example and as it goes, her version looks pretty different! Next week she will add the shadows and the background to make the yellow corals come forward!

Catherine's coral has the same 'feel' as Ilse's, it is very interesting to see something that looks real but can't really be interpreted. I love it.

A fantastic coral by Jutta, she has a good and varied plann in her head  and has started really well! To be continued...

A gorgeous coral painted by Judith. Some small adaptations to the white bits and then it will be finished.
