Although I brought examples and photos of lovely and intricate vintage tins, the whole group decided to continue with the DeStaël project. I love that kind of enthusiasm! And again, interesting things happened:
For her first painting, Anna Karin chose to 'work like Rothko'. She went out of her comfort
zone with red and yellow and then a lot of black and indigo and what happened was,
that it became more and more beautiful when we talked about it, turned it
around and back again. It became am exciting and mysterious composition. Very Rothko actually!! She also painted a DeStael-inspired abstract landscape (below)
Judith was on a roll! She painted right out of the heart, like she always does. Upside down (above, a very good thing to do if you want the 'fluffy' parts, and in the right direction, abstract and landscape.
And more abstract landscape - in the style of DeStael with a Judith-interpretation, as well as the final-final version of the beautiful woman with red baret.
Well done!

Anne let herself be inspired by a more pastel variety of the de Stael paintings - and made it a bit more abstract, although you can still see that it is a landscape, seen from a high standpoint

Glenda is a new star in our group. Of course she painted the spheres, everyone who is new does that - but from now on she can participate in whatever project we do! Super bright and sunny, they look ready to be picked up!
Roxane used the leftover paint in her palette to create a quick sketch of birds above the sea. Good idea!
She also painted the woman who is a mountain!
Thecla gave the DeStael landscape a quarter turn and made it into an almost human form. Well done on the red - a very difficult colour in watercolours!
And with this landscape she stayed closer to the original and even managed to give it the impression that there are voluminous brushstrokes.
