Refined abstracts in Watercolours

The Aquarellistas had great fun in the latest session, experimenting with delicate abstract painting. By throwing wet paint on the paper, letting it dry and then get ideas from the shapes and the white that is on the paper. Almost all of the works below are 'in progress' WIP's as we call them, and we may finish them next session, but not sure. What was sure was that everyone agreed that it opened up another way of thinking and that everyone has at least painted one new shape, that just came out of - imagination...

Charlie nailed it for sure and i think she actually felt the abstract inspiration at some point, where your hands and brain take over and stuff starts happening. Great to look at!

Thecla created two warm-coloured gorgeous abstracts, we were all in awe/

Brenda's abstract also strongly reminds us of a deep sea view, with oyster-like shapes. Simple - and also a strong image with a clear background and foreground

Also a kind of seaweed - deep sea impression by Anna Karin, mainly because of the background

Martine was completely immersed in her own abstract ideas, using masking fluid and watercolours. The picture has made the yellow and red darker than the actually are...

Two paintings by Anne, both coming out of her brain and her brush! She started with the top one and then continued with the painting below, which is abstract but still very much feels like something you have seen, with a clear foreground and a very far background Well done!

Glenda really understands the idea of this project - and did a wonderful abstract full of ideas en clever solutions. You can look at it for hours and still discover things. I love it.

It isn't really Bev's cup of tea, this subject, but she is a good sport and look what came out!! It has such interesting shapes - and the negatives on the right hand side are working.

Anna's contribution shows an beautiful transparency and a lot of creativity in shapes and colours!
I love it and find it interesting too.

I did a how-to demo and then continued and it came out as a sort of face.

Anna also created a pumpkin, our subject of coming Tuesday. It is wrapped in a napkin with open pattern. Well done and more next week!

Anna Karin finished her lovely lemons - painted with the big brush with fine point and started an amazing, transparent, dreamy landscape...

Erica felt like trying out the 'get the colours right' exercise and did a fantastic job. Seriously, the best I have seen up to now, colours spot on!

Gail did the same exercise and this one is also very very good! the new ladies are so talented.

Judith needed a break from her portrait cpommissions and created two new transparent voiles. And as always they work, poetically and as pure honey for the eyes!

Bev fixed and finished a painting of Gordes, she started in Gordes and finished in the atelier! we all loved the composition with the bike!
