Spectacular Reflections in Watercolours

We, the Aquarellistas, started the year halfway January - with a blast. As in, amazing results, while painting reflections in 'convex mirrors' or glass balls 😄 We revisited this subject from 2009 - when we painted it for the first time, with a different group and wonderful results too!

NB for the die-hards, our first Aquarellista-post was 15 years ago! Slightly hesitating, but we've proved that it is working, with 199,116

Martine used and changed an inspiration picture with a glass sphere and made it so much better, both in shapes and in colours...

Corinne painted a stunning and spectacular silver ball with a reflection of what's behind it. Fantastic looking!

Anne tells a story in her reflection - it is a fun exercise to think of the reflection that is behind you. I wonder if it is a wooden caravan - and the weather is much better too!

Denise painted a pure fantasy, with light effects, and glitter paint and also salt. We are delighted with her colours, so different from everyone else!

Same inspiration picture, different execution, by Anna. I love the pinkish tiles and the amazing foliage on the refelction

And last but by no means least, this stunning painting by Sonya. Both the background, that she made hazy to create more contrast with the sphere and then that flashing mirror ball. Superb!

I am pretty sure more of you want to do this when they are back, so I promise to keep the examples in my basket. And then there were other projects going on too:

Glen had missed the Anna Karin Vase exercise and really wanted to do that too. Anna Karin wasn't there to help and advise, but still - quite good results! Unfortunately the salt didn't do what we expected in the vase below - but luckily it worked well in the bottles

Sue is on a safari and happily goes on painting and quick-sketching. Here's one pretty elephant (who'se name is Leopard?)

Despite doing a lot of building work on het new house at the moment, Sandra is painting - and how!! Just have a good look and enjoy her sense of humor, combined with delicate pen and wild brush strokes (no doubt put on with rough hands & broken nails from all that construction stuff) Full of admiration!

Judith is happily expressing herself in her signature spontaneous way. She chooses her colours, then lets her muscles and brushes decide the shape and somehow it always comes out surprising and full of energy. The first version of these two paintings were gorgeous when wet - but dried up a bit bland. And then she has bravely tried if it would work to put on a second layer here and there - and yes! I think they improved and lost nothing of their power. The first versions are below, with 3 other paintings, in the Judith corner...
