Beautiful and interesting Lighthouses in Watercolours

Sue painted this excitingly intriguing lighthouse called 'Pigeon Point' in Californoa/. She cleverly used the working of the contrast between Violet/Blue and yellow tones, thus creating a mysterious and promising atmosphere full of excitement and adventure

The latest Aquarellista session was dedicated to 'Lighthouses', the important beacons, saving and helping ships in threatening conditions. They have so much personality, are impressive and are often  very beautiful. You will see many different versions here! Enjoy!

Randi painted a happy and sunny outlook on a lighthouse, with an amazin blue sky painted with Winsor Blue green shade and French Ultramarine

Sony painted this lighthouse in these cold colours to express her take on the corona crisis. The only warm light in this paintng is the yellow around the lamp in the top. Very clever! click on the photo to enlarge it.

Michele works with us from Bretagne, and painted 'le phare de Ploumanach' in pink granite, around the corner from her. It is spectacular!!

This very impressive and tall lighthouse tells a completely different story. Monica painted it.

Carol started this painting of the red-white lighthouse, that was close to her house in the UK. Will tell you it's name next time...

Majestic lighthouse towering over nature, rocks, stormy waters.  Liz painted this one, very powerful!

Crazy weather - with a calm, safe lighthouse. Fantastic emotional painting by Jutta

Simple yet powerful because of the strong contrast between light and dark. Awesome painting by Hélène
Celina's contribution from Norway is also a much beloved lighthouse, from her sunny little island. The lighthouse is called Pikesten Fyr (Fyr = Lighthouse) It is so full of life and love...

In the meantime...

Cari painted with us from England. She is in a mellow 'printemps' mood, with these supersoft watercolours of asaragus, peony and lavender. Well done and keep 'em coming!

Sonya finished her Duckling - to perfection. It is bravely swimming - and looking übercute!!

Judith is on a research-experiment-roll and does that for all of us. The theme of her work right now evolves around the darkness in the outside and inside world. And very strong stuff comes out of that - with beauty and beast and still pleasing to the eyes although she doesn't want that. Interesting! please continue...

Cathie works on a new series of 'old shoes'. Very well painted of course, and also with a story. They are so small, are they someones favorite? Or is the owner very poor... you go ahead, interpret!

Louise did the first brushstrokes on a lovely little polar bear

She also finished her dolphin painting, ànd worked on the colourful flatfish (note the eye!). What a production...

And Sarah, well, she makes serious progress on her crocus flowers. Very original - with lots of own ideas inside. Can't wait to see the final result!

Thursday we had a session at my house, and I had time to do a 1-minute sketch of Sue and Randi. I don't even know if they noticed - but it shows how concentrated they worked! I was sitting next to Sonya that's why she isn't in it 😊
