Celina's doodle - gorgeous, in colours and the very delicate and subtle lines. Fun detail - it was truly doodled, while watching a movie...
25 January 2009, we posted the first Aquarellista blog, and although the world changed in the past 12 years - the quality and sparkling creativity of our group stayed constant! Last week the challenge was to doodle with watercolours and all other material you could think of. It lead to an explosion of fantastic, special works, I am so proud of you all!! You can see all of it below. And if you want to see the example click this link
'Create from what is and not how it should be!' is Judith's motto... she used pieces of masking tape and played with the shadow, which has resulted in a beautiful depth.
Here's the doodle by Sue (in France), 'A Sultry summer evening in the city, sunflowers in a window box and dandelion clocks in the air !' What a poetic description and so accurate! I love the atmosphere. And the fact that some doodling can lead to all this creativity!
Same goes for Brenda (in Isle of Man) creativity-wise, as the atmosphere is completely different from Sues, very playful I find this one, lots of humour and the little funny guys floating around. Wonderful colours!!
Anna Karin created this fantastic doodle with little fish. I guess with a couple of fav colours first and then a good layer of Paynes' Grey with some doodling in that. The composition is excellent, is is free and 'loose' and it looks as if it is painted in seep sea!
Randi used a cotton bud to doodle these flowers and she reports that it was super fun. You can see that from the three watercolours, and as for the Hortensias below, there is some great shadow too!
'Journey from sketchbook to canvas', some really creative doodles by Sandra. She has gone all the way and used a myriad of materials for these four works:
By coincidence (that's what she calls it, I'm sure it was telepathy) Sandra had already started doodling in sketch books about 2 weeks ago (for insiders: Inspired by the Neville Moray recommended book Drawing Projects. Also recommended by me, it still is my fav coffee-table book)
Used for this one: ink, watercolour pencil, watercolour, collage of waterolour on paper plus ikea packing material. With spectacular result. That river! (or is it a crack in the rocks 😁)
and for this one - masking, splatter, watercolour ink, watercolour, watercolour pencils, oil pastels. Plus collage.
And for the last one - that started during last years acrylics experiments... Watercolour, acrylics, cellophane, drawing pen, IKEA packing material, texture gel, oil pastels, relief paste.
In the meantime...
Inspired by the 'Not white' challenge, Sonya painted this beautiful portrait of her lonely swan, whose mate disappeared last year. It is so beautiful and poetic. And by the way the not-white looks very white, well done you!
Rosemarie (the Netherlands) painted these beautiful and strong Amaryllises, also in the context of the 'not-white' challenge. She emphasizes that she has not been painting for a long long time - but by the look of it she doesn't need to warry! It may be rusty but it is still there! Looking forward to seeing more
Judith was in Auron for a couple of days and was very much inspired by the sunset. It led to two different paintings, both stylized, both with reference to geometrical shapes. The one above I think has an amazing light beam and the colours are solidified in the pyramid shapes. The one below doesn't need comments. Except maybe 'wow!'
