Clair Obscur or chiaroscuro in Watercolours (with Cathie!)

Clair-Obscur or chiaroscuro is about the use of Light and Dark in art - with dramatic effect. Carravaggio, Rubens and Rembrandt (just to name a few๐Ÿ˜Š) were masters at it - but the Aquarellistas proved last Tuesday that they are pretty good at it too!

How mysterious is this little origami-animal! Thecla painted it - and I see a whole story happen here. That slightly opened door (with a bright light makes you wonder where it is headed...

Roxane painted this strong and characterful portrait - and had time left to start another. Masking fluid still on - and I am curious what it is!!

Michele's lovely clair-obscur especially has interesting shadows!
It is another painting with a clear story behind it...

Martine's work, with a lion, barely visible in the moonlight. Super! She has taken it with her to add some tiny last touches.Cathie says: Well done! and I agree...

Jutta's interesting portrait - the eye!
'Lots of atmosphere and it works well with these colours rather than black'

One of these two paintings is a work in progress. As it is Judith's you wonder which of the two ๐Ÿ˜Š - that said - I adore the colours in the second one!

Genevieve painted this strong portrait - and then had time for a little sky It is a try-out, very small but super good. Great idea for future 'how to' class themes!
