Last week the Aquarellistas painted lanterns (lampions), with their poetic light. The results are astonishing, I am very enthusiastic . Also about the other paintings by the way!
Anna Karin painted the very basics of a lantern - or a naked one. In a breathtaking simple style. Fantastic.
Anna was there on Tuesday and Thursday - and created two Lampion paintings. Both worked out very well and have the soft shine and reflection that feels so warm and good!
Geneviève used light colours as base, and the Lampion is SO good - the background will probably get a bit darker in the next stage and that will make the shine even stronger/
here's another take on the same subject, created on Thursday by Sue. Background dark and a reflection that makes it clear that there's a warm, strong light!
Randi created this fantastic impressionist landscape with lanterns. It activates my imagination, I can almost smell the party that they are preparing for...
Shirley's version, it amazes me every time how beautiful the different versions of the same subject come out. Shirley doesn't agree, but I think hers is very beautiful and strong, with an amazing twilight

Roxane's Work in progress, Very strong light, very much helped by the application of yellow, a colour that I hardly ever recommend, but for light, well, see for yourself!
Martine's painting is classic, strong, and so well understood with the light, the reflection and the clever use of dark colours. Love it!
Same goes for Corinne, who painted this mysterious image. The strong contrast between warm and cold makes it very interesting.
Judith let herself be inspired by an example, but wouldn't be Judith if she hadn't let the painting decide on how to continue! The result is an eclipse. Or maybe something else, but as always, original!!
I demo-ed the effects a bit and I although it is a bit cold in atmosphere, I still like how it turned out.
In the meantime...
Two finished experiments by Judith. The one above is just stunning, the dark lines add a bit of extra to the colours on the foreground. Then everything gets bluer and less defined towards the background - , just like in real life.Below a fantasy in light lines and dots - for me it is all about 'Looking Back' -but see for yourself, it is very open to interpretation
Same Judith, different experiment - this is monochrome playing with water and a mix of red, yellow & blue-ish toes to make a deep grey. What do you see in these? flowers? (above) A witch throwing a spell?(below) let us know!
