Stained Glass Windows and other subjects for watercolours

The last Aquarellista session of the season was fantastic in the sense that we were a very small group and worked on interesting subjects, while outside it was 40°C in the shadow - but we had airco!! The subject was 'Looking through Stained glass windows' and see below what happened:

Annelet herself be inspired by an interesting example. On the one hand it is something like an old door, and you see a tree through it. On the other hand it is a mysterious, abstract, light and sensitive watercolour. I adore it!

This was a very good subject for Thecla, who loves the geometric forms - Yhis watercolour isn't completed, but already very intriguing And clearly a window. Can't wait to see it finished....

Michèle worked with similar inspiration - but concentrated more on the distorted shapes outside the stained glass.ANd she used a bit of colour. Equally awesome!

Anne is also still studying jellyfish and every time she paints one it is better than the previous version. Here she practised lifting the blue paint to bring some light and transparency into them

Sylvie is painting a stylized portrait of her beautiful mother who passed away. It is very emotionally difficult - yet painting a loved one is a very good way to deal with your grief.

Brenda missed the Moulin Rouge Poster last week and she really wanted to do one, so she did! It is very well drawn and painted and playful and funny too!! (take a good look at the man in the foreground)

And another version of the affiche, painted by Michèle who couldn't get enough from watercolours last week! Another take on the subject, this one is so close to the original, also because of the text!

Avril started a project to paint a wild sea with big waves and foam. It is no way finished and without the foam one could mistake it for a snow landscape - but I know where this is going and it will be fantastic!!

That was it for the season! I am going to have a bit of holiday and you well hear from me end of August!!
I wish all aquarellistas and other readers of this blog a splendid month and look forward to post again in September!!

NB: for the Hangar team: there will be watercolours on Tuesday afternoons!
Märta Wydler will host the sessions. It will be fun to participate as it will be completely different!
