Wet-in-Wet in Watercolours II

As announced before we did another round of 'wet-in-wet 'Chaillou style'. This time we used lots of water&paint, sponges, water sprays and credit cards wrapped in kitchen paper. Everyone created several versions, using imagination, letting the materials work their magic while learning from experience. It was a wonderful afternoon - and the results are amazing! Have a look, also enjoy the 'other' paintings, with last weeks' theme 'Birch trees' and more...

A trilogy by Glen - as you can see she really connected to this subject.
My favourite is the first one with the red - but all of them are amazing, each with their own story!

Glenda started off in a completely wet and watery way - then let it dry and finished this landscape in her own style. I really like the horizon - and the two bushes because they are also faces that look at each other (once you discover that you cannot unsee it 😁)

I was pretty pleased with my demo, because of how the tops of the trees turned out, as well as the white stripes in the water (with credit card wrapped in kitchen paper).

And even more pleased with especially the sky in this painting by Thecla. That sky is a perfect example of wet-in-wet where the paint does the work for you.

Martine painted this atmospheric riverbed of what to me looks like an Egyptian landscape. The colours are so warm!

Anna Karin let herself go in warmer colours and especially the softer wet surfaces are very beautiful and mysterious! And she continued with the painting that will soon be a birch tree composition

Roxane already worked on the landscapes wet-in-wet and last week made the numbers with a lot of experimental wet paintings, 2 of them trees à la Chaillou.

If you read last week's blog you may have seen my comment that birch trees have such a strong image that you can simplify it and still everybody will see that they are birch trees. Judith proves my point with this 2 minute (or was it less?) experiment where she just scraped the colour from one side and then painted a simple background.

And then she very seriously worked on 2 autumn paintings. That worked out very well - Light, contrast and 100% autumn

And then there were the other other projects:

Sylvie continued with her Koi painting, and was so happy with the distraction, having a tough time with lots of stress at her job...

And Roxane painted two vases 'Anna Karin style'. They worked out super well - can't wait to see them finished!!
