Self Portrait of Salvador Dali in Watercolours - and more

One day soon we will have a project 'create your own version of a painting of Dali'. We discussed that some tie ago, but knowing that there wouldn't be many participants and thinking of how much everyone loves to do portraits, I suggested for the time being, to create a version of a fabulous self portrait of Dali. As a warming up. And the results are very good. His weird look is different in every version, the mouth, the eyes, it is there and it is 'the' thing of every painting. Another strong feature of the actual oil painting is the background and some actually finished that. Anyway, it was fun to do and some day in the new year we'll paint elephants with crazy long legs or melting pocket watches! I wrote my first impression under the portraits, check if you see the same:

Dali by Corinne
disapproving and a little scared

Dali by Martine
very indignant and going to throw it out in a minute

Dali by Sandra
Surprised and a bit scared - with a beautiful mouth...

Dali by 'Suzie'
Upset and afraid - but with a sexy glance

Dali by Anna:
Very worried -but beautiful anyway

Dali by Marina
Fears the worst and is still deciding between freeze or flight

'In the meantime' other paintings were created as well, very much worthwhile and interesting!

Thecla was on a roll with Opera Rose and Transparent orange! Both abstracts are so interesting, with depth and great contrasts in shapes...

A Winter-WIP by Ingrid, with cute sheep, lots of snow and mysterious trees... .

No Dali-portrait by Anne, because she had a commission tp paint an exciting kite&surf painting

Two grandiose abstract loose wet paint experiments by Judith. She had of course much fun doing it and was happy with the result. I love everything about them!

And this is also created by Judith! You may have seen the start in last week's blog. The warmth of this picture is real, she used a pray and got the warm ochre (or burnt sienna) all over the place
