Painting Zebras in Watercolours

We spent the latest Aquarellista session painting Zebras (the subject du jour) as well as Birch trees and then even some psychedelic experiments! Here some action pictures, and below the actual results...

This beautiful strong image was painted by Thecla. It has a perfect movement and dark-light balance. And even Thecla was more or less happy with it which means a lot ๐Ÿ˜

Anne started painting this cute baby. I think it would be a great decoration for her new beautiful grandson's room

A huge size painting again by Sylvie - and the theme really speaks to her! Expect colourful additions...

Not yet finished but here's humour combined with good painting. Anna-Karin, who else, original as always. And painted with a big brush with fine point!

Anne's last 5 minutes were spent on this little guy, looking so good!

here's another version of the unbelievably cute baby zebra, lovingly painted by Ingrid.

Sandra's work in progress a combination of birch tress and a zebra - to be refined and although not inspired by it - this just happened - have a look at Magritte's surrealistic 'The Blank Signature'

Michele beautifully painted this graphical impression of a zebra. She wonders the intelligence of the animal is related to the complexity of the stripes ๐Ÿ˜†

In the birch-section,Glen did an awesome job on this orange, stylized rendition. I love this so much!
Below the softer version, lovely colours, and great technique for the dark parts. But the one above stays my fav!!!

Martine did a wonderful job (also a bit surrealistic) on this biggie! It has a lot of interesting details and different mysterious backgrounds. And still has a lovely atmosphere. Well done!
One of the few times that we have a WIP of Sue! It is going to be a birch tree composition with a very special light. Next week. At the moment there is cling film on the bottom side to make a very beautiful texture, as well as masking fluid and masking tape - used so that Sue could freely sponge-on the background...

Judith will finish these birch trees next time - very promising already and makes you wonder what it will look like when finished! ANd the rest of the time she spent on a psychedelic colourful work... What do you think of when you see it?

Sandra finished her lotus flower landscape. What a composition and balance.

Sonya was going to paint a horse and wondered if she should do it in bright colours. Did this quick sketch in a minute - wow!!!- and decided against it. She is now very seriously working on a dark and gorgeous -and realistic- version. Here is the first result:
