Watercolours of shells

On request we painted shells this week in both aquarellista sessions! I brought a lot of example pictures, and it was funny to see that the same were chosen in both groups! And that the results are very different...

Anna Karin painted this blue shell covered in blue mother of pearl. With a big wet brush, wet-in-wet, combined with fine lines.

Anne was the only one with another choice and it came out so lovely! The detail is amazing and the whole expression is very funny and open...

Martine chose a shell with mother-of pearl. Very subtle, very beautiful and contrasted - but still balanced.

Charlie painted the most popular shell, gold mother of pearl with a turquoise reflection.. It is marvellous and the shadow really gives it something extra...

Ingrid used the same input, and it is great to see how different it comes out! Les shiny, but with stunning, firm colours. Shows that there is always an important part of your personality in an artwork

Sue, with only 1 hand available did this fabulous shell, loose style still working! She did a beautiful job with the flowing colours and works in a similar way as Anna Karin, but still it comes out very different. Love it!

WIP by Brenda, she will finish it next time. Looking very promising!

And another version of the golden mother of pearl, this one by 'Trish' who was not over the moon with it. I do not agree but hey, she's the artist!

Anna finished her corkscrew, I think it is amazing. So well done on the bottle, the cork and most of all the old-ish cork screw, with so much character!

WIP by Sylvie. It is going to be a beautiful, moving horse with a lot of speed

Judith showed her two styles, above a lovely dog (Charlie), in a wonderful interpretation. It is a strong image, with just a few colour accents in a mainly black and white drawing. Sweet and soft.
The painting below has a different story to tell. This comes from another place and I appreciate it very much! Everyone will interpret this in a different way, but no one will see love and peace in it. The background story has passion, it has power and contrast. Impressive.

Charlie finished the last butterfly and it is so lively, it seems to fly up from the paper.

This duo of curly tulips was painted by Ingrid. It is amazing and has such wonderful colours. Very classic and attractive!

Anna finished her silhouette painting of last week and it has come out so powerful. I absolutely love it.

And a very different and very impressive silhouette, painted by Martine. So strong and calm. And a beautiful story of motherly love behind it . Wonderful
