Ina's version of the 'Girl with parasol, painted with a very 'impressionist' brush stroke, almost pointillism! Brilliant to leave the sky unpainted as one can do in watercolours - it is so still.
Now and then the Aquarellistas create their own version of 'A famous Painting' - an impression in watercolours obviously, and the main enjoyment is the difference of every interpretation and style. Lady with a parasol was no exception and although most of the results are using the impressionist colours scheme of Monet they are all having their own characteristics. Brilliant!
Sue's version is so lovely! She left the boy in, and the two of them have a connection - the boy seems to be on his way up to his mother - to show her something... Just my feeling - and it is loose and supple!
And another fantastic version, by Randi! Storm is coming, and she is up to it! The wind is going to blow away her worries - and maybe her parasol. Very well done, with the colour choices also.
Here is Carol's version and she doesn't like it at all so it is brave that she shows it anyway. I understand why - but we can all (even Monet) learn from the fa-bu-lous light on the dress and the transparency of the parasol. And of course the hill with its vegetation! Simply painted with a big brush, works like a dream and a good contrasting element.
From Isle of Man, Brendas version, I love it!! So funny also in a way, and boy and mum have a fun moment together. In this one I see a storm coming as well, a different one than Randi, it is a very hot day on the picture, but they will make it home in time...
Michele took another impressionist work as example, 'La dame aux jonquilles' (daffodils). It is a clever choice, fitting to Michele's style and it has the light and the shadow, but all much lighter. It is poetic and great to see original interpretations of the subject as well!
Here's another take on it, a hilarious one by Barbara. - not so very impressionistic, this one, yet a very good association with the subject. If there's one lady with an umbrella/parasol it is Mary Poppins, well done!!
This interesting (as always) painting by Sandra was inspired by a female impressionist painter. Her name is Amy Katherine Browning, British, and she was not only an artist, but also an activist.
Sandra: "I loved it in the original that she was only wearing a pair of slippers! Which match the cover of her book"
Last in - this association by Bibbi - her model is holding a parasol and how beautiful are these short sketch impressions, with their light!
Which brings us to the last association of Judith - who is experimenting with transparency and layered work 'Once I met a girl with a parasol' is the title. To me it is freedom! But that's the great thing about paintings like this, you can interpret your own world in it!
In the meantime...
Another painting by Judith in the same style. It is so subtle and fragile, and at the same time very strong! I find it wonderful and moving. Hurray for the development!
Look who's back! Hélène! Her eyes must have improved after tyhe operation, because this is a wonderfully subtle painting! She took up an old challenge, a little river in a misty landscape. Here's loving the reflection! Looking forward to seeing more...
