This fa-bu-lous painting was created by Martine. I am in awe, especially with that shawl on the right side, that catches the sun, and combined with the highlight on the face they suggest an amazingly warm, strong sunlight. Super well done!!
Last week the Aquarellista crew was once more going for portraits. Plan B, because we postponed the 'Technique and Proportions' to next week. We painted portraits from a 3/4 picture, and the mission was to make it look like a real, believable face. resemblance not important (this time 😊) As you can see for yourself above and below, we succeeded pretty well!
Shirley created this portrait that some of us classified as almost- Michael Jackson.A compliment! It is loosely based on a very dark picture and she added colour and personality!
WIP by Sylvie - a beautiful and very believable portrait of a young woman. She actually resembles the model -- and will probably be dressed in blue 😃
Geneviève was not too happy with this first portrait - although it is a face that looks real - but she overworked it a bit, I agree. She is going to give it another go in the next session, exciting!
Régine is a new star, seriously! I hope she stays with us - she has such an interesting style!
Anna painted this perky girl, I love it and I think it would get something extra from dark felt pen outlines. The yellow background is so cool!
We also worked on Christmas cards...here are some great ideas, with more to come in the next weeks!
Sue created this magnificent watercolour, quite large in size and it fits the bill for a a volcano eruption, an abstract, a powerful blossom tree and a New Years card!
Janine started an experiment, where you start out painting quite precise shapes (holly with red berries), then after they dry, you loosely wash them, maybe adding some colour wet-in-wet and then let dry and draw the shapes again. You'll see the result in the next post!
This gorgeous, warm and cold landscape is Sue's actual Christmas card. We all agree that it has a quality to make you happy.-even on a bad day, this would light you up!
Randi's Christmas card has a pure and simple quality. It tells a story about how Christmas looks and has such lovely details (with clever shadows) to give it just that little bit of depth.
Anna's Christmas card is so warm and colourful! Like Randi's it tells a story but this time the one about the three wise men. She used a felt pen on top of the colours and that really gives it something extra!
I promised the others that I would put this one in the blog - because it is a nice idea - but the actual implementation leaves much to be desired. It may inspire you though - to have a message in words that get longer and thus create the shape of a Christmas tree.
Another fantastic Sue, she's on a roll!!
Thecla's negative shapes are SO interesting! I can look at them for hours. Wonderful work, looking so organic and deep!
Celina'se has so many activities at the moment! Doing a great job for the Hangar - and that is just one of the many things. I can imagine that painting cute little pink houses is very beneficial and distracting! More next blogpost...
And then there's Judith. As always she did her own thing, experimenting in her corner, standing, pouring, painting a bit and then holding it under the tap... And look what came out of al that!!! In awe.
